"Formed in 2011, the Studio 9 Orchestra performs some of the finest contemporary arrangements for 18-piece jazz band. This concert will take you through a musical journey where the hardest Mingus swing sits next to funk and breathtaking orchestral harmonies, played by some of the finest musicians on the South Coast."

Exciting new HND Jazz course to run at Chichester College!
Chichester College have recently been registered to run an HND (Higher National Diploma) in Jazz, which is equivalent to the first 2 years of a degree. Until now there has been no education at Higher Education level south of London. Now there is!
A Jazz course has been running at Chichester College for over 25 years and literally hundreds of students have passed though our doors, going on to study at Degree level or going straight into professional work.
Half of the jazz oriented musicians in the south east have studied at Chichester College at some point!
The course features:
* Weekly workshops, in jazz theory, aural skills, improvisation, keyboard skills, music analysis and professional development
* 3 hours a week of tutor led practical workshops
* weekly one to one lessons on your first instrument
* Masterclasses from national and international Jazz Masters
* A specialist unit in Afro-Cuban and Brazilian Jazz
* A 'tour' at the end of the course to local, regional and possibly national venues.
The course will cost £5000 per year, nearly half the cost of comparable courses at other Higher Education institutions. We are currently negotiating with a number of universities to provide students with an option to convert the HND into a full BA degree course through a further years study. Student loans are available for many people - find out more at the Student Loans Company website www.slc.co.uk
To apply for a place you will need to apply through UCAS, (www.ucas.com) course code W314. We will be interviewing in April and May for the course starting in September 2012
You can contact the Course Leader, Simon D'Souza for more details at

Tuesday, 17 January 2012 |
The Sussex Jazz Orchestra consists of a full brass section with a conventional format of trumpets, trombones, alto, tenor and baritone sax. The rhythm section consists of electric guitar, piano, double/electric bass and drums. The orchestra is privileged to have a large and varied collection of original pieces composed by the late founder Ian Hamer, which makes their orchestra that little bit special.
Currently they are looking to recruit a regular keyboard player, drummer, and trombone players.
The orchestra rehearses every Thursday evening from 8pm till 10:30pm.
Please get in touch with Patrick if you are interested in either joining them or seeing them perform.
